Simulate a subscription

In a real app, the customer picks a plan and pays. Here you’ll go through Stripe Checkout (test mode) to simulate subscribing to the Pro Plan — $20/month.

Customers need a place to cancel, update their card, and view invoices. Stripe’s Customer Portal does that—you host a link, Stripe hosts the UI.

Stripe Connect is how platforms (marketplaces, SaaS) onboard partners and split payments: the customer pays once, the platform keeps a fee, and the partner gets the rest. Next steps will let you play both “partner” and “customer” to see the full flow.

As the platform, you need partners to receive payouts. With Express accounts, the partner goes through Stripe’s hosted onboarding (bank details, identity). You’ll be redirected to Stripe; when you return, this step is complete.

Now the customer pays again—but this time, if you have a partner account, the payment is split: platform fee (e.g. 10%) stays with you, the rest goes to the partner. Same Checkout, different destination.

Complete “Become a partner” first so this payment can be split. Otherwise the full amount goes to the platform.

As the partner, you see your earnings and payouts in Stripe. Here we show real data from the Connect account (available balance, pending, recent payouts). You can also open the real Stripe Express dashboard.
